Everyone needs a comfy food shop they can visit during their workday. A space that’s small, unassuming, and devoid of sales gimmicks. Where the owners are known for high-quality, fresh food, a friendly smile, and a homemade cake on your birthday.

Okay, I’m just kidding about the cake. But I think you get where I’m going with this. Visiting a small business is usually more relaxing than shopping at a big box store or food chain.

A lovely Asian couple runs the sandwich place I frequent. The husband takes the orders and runs the cash register, and the wife makes the food. Efficiency at its finest.

Here are six reasons this place floats my boat.

1 — It’s a quick walk from my workplace

About one city block, to be precise. I usually order my sandwich, pay, and maybe chat with the wife while she fills my order. Then I’m on my way. Simple. On the odd day when I don’t get there early enough to beat the lunch rush, I mentally prepare for the wait, which usually doesn’t take long.

Interestingly, my office building has a convenience store in the lobby, but to say it has problems would be a gross understatement. The self-checkout…
