When I first started reading articles on Medium, I saw lots of writing-related subjects, and I thought, "Oh, this is a place to write for writers." So I wrote articles with my fellow writers as my perceived audience.

But I eventually saw the Type B (to borrow your term) writers. Now I write about whatever topic is top of mind.

While I do follow CEO Tony's messages on upcoming changes and his vision for Medium, I stay true to the subjects that bring me--and hopefully my readers--some measure of fulfillment. I used to wrestle with the "should I write to make money or not?" question, but not anymore.

I write for my soul and my peace of mind. Kudos for this article, Pamela!
