I've found this to be the ultimate truth when searching for a life partner.

What do I want? What can I do without? When do I stick to my guns because I know myself that well, and when do I open my mind to further learning/experiences? All questions I believe everyone should ask themselves throughout life.

I'm not a serial dater, but I've learned something from every relationship I've been in (including a situation similar to your Mormon dude). This has helped me refine and tweak my own long-term relationship list.
