I've enjoyed the single life, the travel, the freedom - along with a handful of relationships (longest lasted a little less than 5 years) - and yet I still feel a bit of trepidation when I read these two sentences. I'm in my early 50s and I'm starting to thinking hard about how growing old alone might feel. Perhaps I'm at some sort of crossroads.
I believe marriage is never truly off the table, and yet I'm aware it may never happen. More research, and possibly soul-searching, is needed.
Thanks for your excellent words, Megan!
