Four Ways to Better Express Yourself
You should never be afraid to verbally express yourself. If you’re familiar with what it’s like to be shy, you know how tough it can be to make your voice heard. Thankfully for most of us, years of experience, creativity, and knowledge can nurture enough confidence to speak with a degree of tact, humor, insight, and depending on the subject, expertise.
Be Confident
Some folks try to please everyone all the time, or perhaps fear unwanted change if they speak up. There are other situations, too, but my point is they rarely stand up for what they believe in.
To be clear, I’m talking about adults — school is over and you’re more or less out on your own. Your life is in your hands and you have plenty of opportunity to think for yourself and be a productive member of society. You could be a carpenter, a chemist, or a congressperson, it doesn’t matter. We’re all the same when it comes to having courage.
Please don’t misunderstand. You may be compassionate, amiable, creative, and good-natured — all excellent qualities — but you may also need a shot of conviction. (Straight up, no ice.)
