Entertainment Pros: Don’t Trust Your Business to an Infant
Dear Entertainment Writers:
Over the past several months, I’ve read an increasing number of dreadful AI-produced drivel on social media. These pieces are meant to be narrations, summaries, or synopses of a movie, TV show, or performer’s life story.
Not only has said drivel contained misspellings and bad grammar, but it also repeats basic information two or three different ways in the same piece. Sometimes I’ve even seen entire paragraphs repeated, word-for-word! This repetition reveals that your product is in dire need of editing and proofreading. Readers aren’t stupid.
Have you ever been told the same information over and over in a short time? As if the speaker doesn’t think you’re smart enough to understand it the first time? It’s insulting and frustrating. If you want to keep existing fans and reach new folks, don’t insult our intelligence.
Get some dynamic human minds on your writing to ensure your public-facing work is cohesive, legible, and engaging. A few minutes of proofreading can help catch malapropisms and those one-too-many cut-and-paste “oops” moments. It doesn’t take that long.
AI is not yet a stand-alone “writer.” It’s an infant that’s still learning! Even if machines become self-ware and turn into our android overlords later, they still need human editors right now. Please allow human minds to help make your work sparkle. Your readers will appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Unwilling To Be Dumbed Down
