Why choose to not be a parent?

The reasons are wide-ranging, from personal to medical to environmental to social to financial. When weighing the pros and cons of raising a child, each couple or individual must get the answer from within. Sure, consult with a family member, your doctor, or trusted friends if you want, but only you can make the final decision.

And you have no shortage of resources. As of this writing, my Google query “reasons to not have kids” produced about 910,000,000 (that’s 910 million) results for websites, articles, books, and videos.

Already done your research and consulted your trusted sources? Great! But what if you’re still on the fence, or maybe overwhelmed by the sheer number of places to look?

The following list offers a quick peek into the mindset of many childfree adults. These reasons are in no particular order because some are more significant than others…
